Marketing Internship

Obtain valuable work experience and build your resume this summer as a Marketing Intern at Basic American Foods!  Basic American Foods is a market leader and innovator in dehydrated food products within the foodservice and retail channels.  We are seeking an innovative, energetic, and inquisitive college intern to support our foodservice marketing team with product line, promotion, customer and competitive analysis, and communication.   Activities will support the foodservice strategic imperatives and the development of the 2015 marketing plan.  

Internship Projects

1.     BUILD PRODUCTS TO MEET MARKET NEEDS:  Assist with new product development and portfolio renovation. Synthesize results of market research to identify opportunity size and provide direction for development team.  Assist in writing specifications and success criteria for the new product and renovation of current products.  Support efforts to develop new channel specific product line.

2.     DEMONSTRATE VALUE OF BAF PRODUCTS:  Develop interactive easy-to-use portion cost calculator to assist sales in demonstrating the value of BAF products for operators compared to competitive products.  Design so that the value is readily apparent.  Collect and evaluate existing cost calculators.  Format for mobile devices using Numbers.  Develop launch and training plan for sales team.

3.     BUILD EXCITEMENT AROUND MENUING BAF PRODUCT CATEGORIES:  Write a plan to develop, maintain, launch and promote a site for BAF foodservice recipe images and messaging.  Create the site/s.  Target audience is BAF/BSRS sales, DSRs and operators.

4.     INTRODUCE BAF TO CHAIN RESTAURANTS:  Assist team with development of custom presentations introducing BAF and demonstrating how we can add value to their operation.  Introduce increased interactivity and graphics to make presentations more dynamic and compelling.

5.     ANNUAL PLAN:  Support development of annual plan by updating industry trends and financial data.  Includes analysis of customer data.

6.     CATALOG RESEARCH:  Write synopsis of research studies and catalog in on-line library.

  Ideal Candidate

·  Bachelor’s degree student in Junior or Senior year

·  Knowledge of basic marketing principles

·  Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables)

·  Intermediate PowerPoint skills

·  Effective interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
