The Center for Agriculture and Food Systems (CAFS) has a dual mission: to develop the next generation of sustainable food and agriculture law and policy leaders while providing legal and policy resources and solutions for citizens to build and support such systems. CAFS’ approach to progressing sustainable agriculture and food systems is systems-based, as our name implies. We believe that in order to truly foster sustainable agriculture and food, we need to understand the connections these systems have to the environment, energy, human and animal health, labor, and climate change.
Vermont Law School (VLS) has a motto of Lex Pro Urbe et Orbe – Law for the Community and the World. VLS is the #1 school for environmental law in the nation for five years running, according to U.S. News & World Report. In addition to traditional law school JD degrees, VLS offers the unique Masters in Environmental Law and Policy, a one-year Masters’ degree program offering interdisciplinary training in environmental law and policy, science, economics, and public advocacy.
Masters of Environmental Law and Policy students choose from more than 50 environmental law- and policy-related courses, taught by the world-renowned faculty of Vermont Law School. The MELP program is administered by the law school’s highly respected Environmental Law Center. Please feel free to ask Lindsay about this program.
